Bréf frá Macau
Ég á allnokkra góða pennavini. Þetta fékk ég frá fátækri stúlku í Macau, sem er rétt við Hong Kong. Finnst þetta fádæma vel orðað hjá henni þar sem við veltum fyrir okkur lífsgöngunni.
"We dim as our glow wears out. Our glow is at its peak when we're still children - though unfortunately a lot of children in this world have never experienced glowing at all. Some - including me - has at a not right age has experienced this glow extinguished by those who are envy of someone's flame gently, innocently yet bravely flickering in the darkness and misery of this world. And sometimes, we accidentally or deliberately choose paths to dim this glow.
But every now and then we try to fan the flames of this glow. We are surely quite doomed to redeem this glow. Humanity has devised a lot of things to bring back the joy and sheer rupture of this glow: art, religion, porn, magazines, hairsprays, sunscreens, lipglosses, anything you can name of. We do whatever we can do to relive once again that same glow - you call it being children once again. Some even try to compensate their lack of glow with material pursuits, hoping that if they can't make it flicker they can fool themselves that they are glowing as soon as they turn on the neon lights of their lives.
But sometimes we meet someone who would walk with us. We may not need someone to walk with but surely an extra glow can contribute an extra light to our way. Sometimes they walk with us for just a moment. Sometimes they walk with us long distance. But do we need an extra glow? I cannot think of the answer in terms of yes or no."
